Cars and Coffee: May 3rd, 2014

This weekend I did something a little different.  After spending about an hour at Katie's, I headed over to Bethesda's Cars 'N' Coffee to check it out, since I heard there would be some fellow Jalops meeting up there.

Katie's Cars and Coffee

Since the weather has warmed up, and weather calmed down, Katie's had a massive turnout this weekend with a few offerings it had never seen before.  It was a lovely weekend with some great cars to enjoy.

Someone may or may not have tried to photobomb this Rolls.

There is an F40 that claims Great Falls as its home, but then something really special happened... a second F40, a rare Competizione model, arrived to the surprise of everyone in attendance.  It was actually magical to see the two Ferrari brethren merely feet away from one another.

On my way out, I spotted this immaculate '66 Thunderbird, with the most beautiful, and completely all-original, interior I have ever seen.  What a beautiful car!

Bethesda Cars 'N' Coffee

After Katie's, I headed over to Bethesda to check it out for the first time.  I figured this would be a good weekend, since I heard from Bengal55 on Oppo that some Jalops might be meeting up there.  Although I didn't get the chance to chat with any attendees, I still did spot some interesting rides, such as this modified Z4, several classic BMW 2002s, and even a first-generation Eagle Talon TSi in amazing condition.

Daniel and Jessica: April 12th, 2014

Daniel and Jessica have a love that spans across the globe.

Jessica, who hails from South Africa, met Daniel while she was in the United States as an au pair.  After a wedding in Johannesburg, where Jessica's family and friends were able to join, the couple also held a more relaxed wedding reception in Virginia, where Daniel grew up with his family.

Daniel and Jessica are a fun couple who keep each other, and everyone, on their toes.  These two were a blast to shoot because they thrive off each other's energy, and the jokes just keep coming.  Add in Ella, Jessica's bubbly Maid of Honor (who was my lighting assistant for the day), and you had the makings for an energetic and fun wedding and portrait session.

And here's Ella, my lighting assistant for the evening...  hard at work...

Then things got a little crazy...

At the end of the night, Ella was gracious enough to catch photos of Daniel and Jessica with me.  She had been manning the Polaroid Instax all night, getting a photo of everybody in attendance for the guestbook.  Digital gets close, but I still love the color tones of film best.

Yingling Family Portraits, 2014

For many years I've had the pleasure of working with Rob on many airport events, but this weekend I had the pleasure of photographing him and his family.  It was a beautiful Spring day, with the Cherry Blossoms at their peak.  After a few portraits in front of the family's cherry tree, I took some time to get photos of the kids playing on the swingset and slides - this was fun, because with each swing I would step under the swing's path and snap a photo or two, quickly stepping out of the way before they came back down... a technique I invented on the spot, but I'm sure will come in handy again down the road!

Katie's Cars and Coffee: April 19th, 2014

A lovely, pre-Easter day at Katie's!  Last weekend I was unfortunately unable to attend, due to four consecutive photoshoots - what an insane weekend!  It was nice to just relax and spot some cars today.  There was an amazing turnout, with the weather finally warmed back up for good.

There is no piano because it's not a Marina.
